Best Picture Smackdown!

Andrew and I are just two of the participants in The Final Oscar: Best Picture Smackdown. Check it out as we discuss the merits (and demerits) of the Best Picture nominees of 2008! I'm rooting for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, one of the all-time best movies I've had the pleasure of seeing. Do I win, or do the "meh" attitudes still prevail? See for yourself!

Of the nominees, "Milk", all the way for me. Classic storytelling with modern cinematic technique. Outstanding performances, terrific music, and a relevant and important subject. "Benjamin Button" is a worthy runner-up. I was not a fan of "The Reader" or "Slumdog Millionaire", the former too pretentious, the latter merely an extended MTV video. "Frost Nixon"?? I never onced bought Frank Langella as Nixon. I lived through the Nixon years. A middling play and average film. My Best Picture of that year? No doubt...it was "Doubt".

Holy crap do I love Doubt. Amy Adams should have won that year, IMHO.
