Casting Coup to Come!

One other tradition that begins anew this month is the Casting Coup Month. In the three weeks leading up to Oscar, I kick off a new season of Casting Coup Tuesdays by doing a full fifteen-day marathon of recasting past Oscar Winners. This is akin to what Andrew from Encore Entertainment is doing at the LAMB Blog with A Streetcar Named Desire. It's always great fun. Last year, I only got seven done, which was disappointing. I am currently trying to transfer some of the Casting Coups from my Livejournal to the SSR, so more developments as those arrive.

What I'm planning on so far are these:

All About Eve
On the Waterfront
Elmer Gantry
Cabaret
Death on the Nile
The Little Mermaid

With other possibilities being The Big Country, Grand Hotel, The Diary of Anne Frank, Sabrina, Tom Jones, Goldfinger, The Ten Commandments, To Kill a Mockingbird and What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?.

In the meantine, check out some Oscar Coups from the past:

Citizen Kane
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
It Happened One Night
The Lost Weekend
Murder on the Orient Express
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
The Picture of Dorian Gray
Swing Time
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

I'm just saying Annette Bening would be sensational as Margo Channing: just saying.

I'm looking out for that Cabaret recast, it better be impressive :P
